On Thursday morning, the 3rd of July, Aaron Bellingham will be taking off on a 3 week, 4300 mile, motorcycle road tour of the entire western part of the United States. Accompanying him on the trip will be Aaron’s father Steve Bellingham as well as old family friend Rick Nelson. As can be seen on the map included in this post, our intrepid trio will take off from Seattle and head east to Spokane. From there they continue east to Glacier National Park, then south to Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons; and then further south to the canyon lands of Utah, including Arches National Monument, Bryce Canyon and Zion National Parks. The canyon part of the tour culminates in a visit to the Grand Canyon and from there back west again, across the desert into California; and then up the west side of the Sierra Nevada to the Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks followed by a visit to Yosemite. The route then heads north to the Redwoods and into Oregon with a visit to Crater Lake; and then back into Washington State.
A few weeks ago I was talking with Aaron about his planned trip, and I suggested to him that it would be cool if we made blog posts for each day of his trip. Aaron loved the idea and that is how “Aaron’s American Odyssey” was born. Each day Aaron will send in a write up of the day’s adventures along with what, no doubt, will be unbelievable photos. I will then edit and publish that day’s post on my “fromanativeson” blog and then will post the blog on Tammy’s, Aaron’s and my own Facebook page for you all to follow. With Rick and Steve along on this trip, and Aaron’s own inimitable input, “Aaron’s American Odyssey” promises to be a unique, inspired and most likely humorous account of Aaron Bellingham’s journey to discover the modern American West. You will be able to post your comments on the blog posts and I will ensure any messages to our road warriors get delivered.
There you have it, friends! You are briefed! Now, stand by for Part I of “Aaron’s American Odyssey”…
