SEAHAWKS ARE NFC CHAMPIONS! –by Mark Arnold

Seattle Team Heads to Super Bowl After Thrilling 23-17 Victory Over 49ers!

Hawks helmet! What can you say about today’s NFC Championship game between the Seattle Seahawks and the San Francisco 49ers at CenturyLink Field? That it was exciting? That it was hard hitting? That it was improbable? That it was compelling?

You can say that it was all of those, and yet would still fall far short of describing it adequately. This game, won by the Seahawks 23-17, defies description by words. The best advice I can give you, if for some reason you missed this game, is to go find a friend who recorded it and watch it all the way through. You will see what I am talking about.

I will write more about this game and give it my full review in a couple of days. What I can tell you now is that what we saw today at “The Clink” was NFL football at its dynamic best. This was a 15 round, heavy weight fight in the great tradition of Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier and the “Thrilla in Manilla”! The Seahawks and 49ers went at each other for 60 minutes and in the end Seattle prevailed in thrilling fashion. It was a game loaded with big plays, savage hitting, great defense and, as you would expect, it went right down to the wire. The Seahawks won because they MADE just a few more plays than the 49ers did.

The main point I want to make now is that today we saw two great teams playing football at the highest level and we “Twelves” in Seattle are extremely fortunate that one of these teams, the victorious one, is ours. The Seahawks took the best shots the 49ers could deliver and, though staggered a few times, won the battle and the right to move on to the Super Bowl!

That’s right Hawks Fans! In case it hasn’t sunk in yet…for the second time in our team’s history WE ARE GOING TO THE SUPER BOWL! Well Done to Pete Carroll, Russell Wilson, Richard Sherman, Marshawn Lynch, Earl Thomas and all the players and coaches, not only for this win, but for the marvelous season to this point. You have ignited a spirit in this city and have delivered a fantastic ride, albeit an incomplete one, for the Seahawks’ goal isn’t getting to the Super Bowl—their goal is to win it!

Based on what we witnessed today against the 49ers, I wouldn’t bet against them.

Go Hawks!
